Kalliopi Lykovardi
Kalliopi Lykovardi holds a BA in Law and an LLM in Human Rights. As a lawyer, she has practiced law, handling mainly cases of public and penal law. Since 1998, when the Greek Ombudsman was established and functioned for the first time, she joined the scientific staff of Human Rights Department. In 2009, she was elected Member of the Board of the European Network of Specialised Equality Bodies (Equinet,) contributing to its aim of offering support to Equality Bodies in order to fulfill their mandates and develop their full potential. Since 2014 she has been coordinating the inter-departmental task force of the Greek Ombudsman on issues related to its competence as Specialised Equality Body. In 2015, she was re-elected to the Equinet’s Board with a two- year term. Since 2016 she has represented the Greek Ombudsman in the National Council for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. She has participated in numerous missions of the Greek Ombudsman in countries of South-eastern Europe on issues related to the protection of human rights (Institution Building, Discrimination). She has also published a number of legal reports and articles and has participated in legal seminars, conferences and workshops related to the protection of human rights, social exclusion and discrimination.
