The Ombudsman hosted a European meeting on forced returns and human rights
On 17 and 18 October 2017 the Ombudsman hosted in Athens a FReM II meeting of the European programme for the external control of forced return operations of third country nationals.
Speaking at the meeting’s opening session, Mr. Andreas Pottakis underlined the particular importance of the presence of human rights monitors to return operations of third country nationals and focused on independent operations and accountability issues of the external control mechanism, at European level.
