- Prevention of torture and ill-treatment – Special report 2015

This report reflects the activity of the Ombudsman in 2015, as the National Torture Prevention Mechanism (NPM), according to its special competence provided by Law 4228/2014 (article 2). The NPM, during 2015, focused on three key areas: Analysing the scope and extent of its competence, good practices and search for collaborations, in the direction of the efficient exercise of the competences- defining the methodology of the investigation, collection of data, processing and presentation of findings and recommendations- establishing the criteria for prioritising the selection of the detention facilities to be visited.

- Return of third country nationals –special report 2014

The Greek Ombudsman’s special report on return procedures of third-country nationals in 2014 has been published with the support of the European Return Fund. On the basis of the Ombudsman’s statutory mandate to monitor returns, the report contains the independent authority’s findings on return and pre-removal detention procedures and its recommendations for improvement of the return system’s effectiveness with respect of legality and human rights.
