This Special Report illustrates the Greek Ombudsman’ activity as the national body for promoting the principle of equal treatment, in the year 2018. The number of complaints submitted in 2018 has increased by 18% compared to the previous year. More than half of all complaints filed in 2018 concern issues of discrimination between men and women, especially in the workplace. In the report, there are also presented cases pertaining to discrimination on ground of disability, family status, ethnic origin, age, racial origin, religious beliefs, social status, as well as discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender characteristics.
All the complaints submitted in 2018 cover the full spectrum of discrimination grounds protected by the national law.
